Rhino is America's upcoming Autistic star, currently eight years old.  Rhino will  reveal autism in all it's raw-and-real form. Video of teaching sessions with Rhino and his Mom using AFS Language and Behavior System have begun!

Rhino's mom states "he is tall and large for his age.  He is part Samoan and part caucasion. He weighs 95 pounds; his shoe size is a man's 6; he is eight years old.  He has cave-man tendencies and playboy charisma; but make no mistake, shares many of the not-so-cute behaviors too, with a little chest-pounding added in, which has also been notably decreased since starting the Language System.

"On 3/18/09 this language system brought my son back from a severe unexplained meltdown.  As he began to focus on the pictures that represent intelligence and order using colorful and relatable cartoon-style characters, he was able to regain himself.  I cried with joy that I had something I could simply take off a shelf and immediately (within seconds in this case) help my son. He was still crying at first but in less than a minute, he was interested in the pictures.

"His favorite activity is laughter itself such that he must be taught that everything is not a game, including and especially mischief, as will be evident once we really get going in his reality show. Quick sample of this available by clicking the cartoon Rhino below.

"He seems to know he is the man of our house and hearts".

Enjoy a few of Rhino's latest amusing perceptions/ moments shared by his mom.

January 11, 2009

Rhino was covering his ears and closing his eyes as I was instructing him to do his chores which consist of helping put away the blankets he sleeps with on the pull-out couch.  I said to him "Uncover your ears! Open your eyes!  Stop hiding from life!"  Rhino then replied with a smile as he removed his hands from his ears "Hi life!"

Rhino was being instructed using the AFS Language System; the laminated 8 1/2 x 11 flashcards were covering the concept of "smooth vs. rough".  He was shown smooth water and rough water; he was also shown professional wresting and kitten-petting.  (Of note: Rhino loves creeks).  Rhino suddenly jumped out of his chair and started pretending to wrestle someone, and said "not scared wrestle in water, in creek!"  I  then said "Oh? You're not scared to wrestle in the water?  Do you want to wrestle a man in the water?"  Rhino then replied "Wrestle man, wrestle woman".
